innisfree is a Korean youth-serum job match for Shiseido Ultimune. It is not the same formula.

Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Serum and innisfree Black Tea Youth Enhancing Serum occupy a similar leave-on serum step: use after an essence-like step and before moisturizer. Their current official formulas tell different stories, so this is a job match, not a dupe claim.

Short version: Choose Ultimune if Shiseido’s current fermented-camellia system, fast-absorbing positioning and published brand testing are the reason you are shopping. Choose innisfree if you want a black-tea, niacinamide and squalane serum at a lower displayed US price. The current innisfree product is called Black Tea Youth Enhancing Serum; older “Perfect 9” or “Youth Enriched” references are not proof that today’s bottle has the same formula as Ultimune.

What Shiseido Ultimune actually is

ProductShiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Serum
Format and routine stepLeave-on lightweight serum; after cleanser and softener or essence, before other serums or moisturizer
Size and US price checked50 ml / US$136 on the official 50 ml product page; other sizes and a refill are listed separately
Current official emphasisExclusive Power Fermented Camellia+, radiance, strengthening and signs-of-aging claims
Published INCI signalsWater, glycerin, butylene glycol, alcohol denat., dimethicone, camellia ingredients, fermented roselle, reishi and iris
Fragrance signalFragrance (parfum), linalool and citronellol appear on the current listed INCI

Shiseido describes Ultimune as being powered by Exclusive Power Fermented Camellia+ and says its process helps deliver 14 amino acids. Those are Shiseido’s product and technology claims. The page does not publish a percentage for the branded complex or for each camellia ingredient, so another serum cannot be ranked against it by percentage alone.

The current official list starts with water, glycerin, butylene glycol, alcohol denat. and dimethicone. Camellia seed oil, camellia flower and leaf extracts, fermented roselle, reishi and iris appear later in the list, alongside fragrance components. That is a specific vehicle and ingredient system, not a generic “anti-aging serum” template.

innisfree Black Tea Youth Enhancing Serum

Productinnisfree Black Tea Youth Enhancing Serum
Format and routine stepLightweight leave-on serum; 2–3 drops after essence and before cream, morning and evening
Size and US price checked30 ml / US$39 on innisfree US; the page displayed a notify-me state when checked
Current official emphasisBlack Tea Reset Concentrate™, hydration, nourishing care and a firmer-looking complexion
Published INCI signalsWater, butylene glycol, glycerin, dipropylene glycol, niacinamide, squalane, allantoin, black tea extract and ceramide NP
Fragrance signalFragrance (parfum), limonene, linalool and citronellol appear on the current listed INCI

innisfree’s current US page describes an antioxidant-rich Black Tea Reset Concentrate™ and moisture-releasing capsules containing hyaluronic acid and squalane. It highlights niacinamide, black tea and antioxidants. The full list also includes allantoin, adenosine, tremella, hyaluronic acid and ceramide NP.

The official directions are materially similar at the routine level: apply 2–3 drops after essence and before cream, morning and evening. Similar placement does not establish the same slip, absorption, scent, finish, stability or result as Ultimune.

Black Tea Youth Enhancing Serum on innisfree

Same serum job, different chemistry

If “alternative” means a daily serum for a more hydrated, radiant or firmer-looking complexion, innisfree is a reasonable Korean product to investigate. If it means Shiseido’s current fermented-camellia formula, innisfree does not meet that bar.

On this site Original Korean youth-serum job match, not a formula copy

Both listed formulas include fragrance signals, but they do not use the same supporting system. The different alcohol, silicone, humectant, emollient, botanical and fragrance profiles are enough to reject “same texture” or “same finish” as an evidence-free shortcut.

Do not merge the old Innisfree name with the current SKU

A public Reddit question asking for a more affordable Ultimune led one commenter to recommend Innisfree Perfect 9 Intensive Serum as a dupe. That thread is an old, qualitative direction signal. The current official US product page uses the name Black Tea Youth Enhancing Serum and publishes a different current purchase surface. We therefore keep the old discussion as historical demand context, not as proof of current formula equivalence.

The same caution applies to “Youth Enriched” wording found in older search discussions. Product names, packaging and formulas can change by market and over time. Use the current official product page and the ingredient label on the received bottle.

What the price gap does — and does not — prove

US$136 versus US$39 is a useful reason to investigate the Korean product, but the bottles are 50 ml and 30 ml, and innisfree’s page showed a notify-me state at the time checked. This is not a like-for-like value calculation. We do not call innisfree “a certain percentage cheaper,” infer how long either bottle lasts, or transfer Ultimune’s testing to it. Taxes, shipping, promotions, stock and regional formulas change the checkout decision.

What this page is not saying

We are not saying innisfree contains Ultimune’s Power Fermented Camellia+, has the same texture, delivers the same clinical or consumer-tested result, or is a treatment for a skin condition. We are saying the current Black Tea Youth Enhancing Serum can be evaluated for a similar broad daily serum job while its published formula, name, price, stock and evidence remain separate.
