Beauty of Joseon Radiance Cleansing Balm is a Korean format-and-job alternative to Farmacy Green Clean. It is not the same formula.
Both are solid cleansing balms used to melt makeup, sunscreen and daily buildup before rinsing. That shared first-cleanse job is useful. Their published ingredients, scent variants, prices and current stock state are not interchangeable.
Why this pair is worth checking
A public Farmacy replacement question describes reformulation concerns and asks for balm or oil alternatives; the writer later says they bought Beauty of Joseon cleansing oil, while replies also mention a Beauty of Joseon cleansing balm. A more recent Korean-skincare discussion asks for an affordable balm with a similar feel after finding Farmacy too expensive. Those are narrow demand signals, not search-volume or sales evidence.
What Farmacy Green Clean actually is
| Product | Green Clean Cleansing Balm |
|---|---|
| Format and job | Solid balm that emulsifies with warm water; Farmacy positions it as a first cleanse for makeup, SPF and impurities |
| US storefront snapshot | US$39 displayed; size selector showed 30, 50, 100 and 200 ml |
| Variants | Original, Fragrance-Free and Honey Vanilla scent choices were exposed on the current page |
| Published formula signals | Sunflower oil and wax/emulsifier system, super-greens story, papaya and aromatic oils on the standard published list |
Farmacy says to apply Green Clean to dry skin, emulsify with warm water and rinse. Its current page publishes a standard list containing sunflower seed oil, moringa, holy basil, arugula, papaya, citrus oils, ylang ylang, bergamot, lime and fragrance allergens. The page also offers a Fragrance-Free variant, so do not transfer the standard list to every jar.
Farmacy’s US page displays US$39 alongside the size selector, but the page exposes multiple sizes and scents. We therefore record the price as a storefront snapshot, not as a permanent 100 ml price or a per-ml value comparison.
Job match: Beauty of Joseon Radiance Cleansing Balm
| Product | Radiance Cleansing Balm |
|---|---|
| Format and job | 100 ml balm-to-oil cleanser; official directions say dry skin, emulsify with water, rinse, then use a water-based cleanser |
| US storefront snapshot | US$14.25 sale display against US$19; the page showed Sold Out - Notify Me When It’s Available |
| Published formula signals | Cetyl ethylhexanoate, caprylic/capric triglyceride, wax/emulsifiers, rice bran oil/water and grain extracts |
| Brand label | Beauty of Joseon displays Fragrance-Free and reports a 51-subject repeated-insult patch test as non-irritation evidence |
Beauty of Joseon describes Radiance as a balm that melts makeup, sunscreen and impurities, then says to follow with a water-based cleanser. Its current published list is not Farmacy’s list: the opening emollient/emulsifier and wax system, rice materials and grain extracts differ from Farmacy’s standard-list signals.
The product page’s “Fragrance-Free” label and clinical-test statement are the brand’s claims for this product. They do not mean irritation-proof, allergen-free or suitable for every sensitive eye or skin condition. The current stock message matters more than the sale price for an immediate purchase decision.

Formula match or format-and-job match?
Formula match: no. Farmacy’s current standard published list and Beauty of Joseon’s published list use different ingredient systems and supporting stories. The Farmacy page also exposes multiple scent variants. A shared balm format does not make the products copies.
Format-and-job match: yes, with boundaries. Both are solid balms applied before rinsing and positioned around makeup, sunscreen or impurity removal. That makes BOJ a reasonable Korean first-cleanse candidate for someone leaving the Farmacy lane. It does not establish identical melt, slip, rinse, eye feel, scent, waterproof performance or skin response.
Side by side
| Farmacy Green Clean | Beauty of Joseon Radiance | |
|---|---|---|
| Broad job | Makeup/SPF first cleanse | Makeup/sunscreen balm-to-oil first cleanse |
| Checked storefront | US$39 display; 30–200 ml selector | US$14.25 / US$19 display; 100 ml; sold out when checked |
| Variant boundary | Original, Fragrance-Free and Honey Vanilla were listed | Radiance Cleansing Balm; check the received label |
| Formula reading | Sunflower oil, wax, super-greens and aromatic-oil signals on standard list | Rice/grain, emollient, wax and emulsifier signals |
| Verdict | Original product and variant-specific choice | Korean format-and-job candidate; not a formula dupe |
We do not call BOJ “cheaper” in a universal sense: the compared storefronts expose different variant, stock and pricing conditions. A sale display is not a lasting price, and an unavailable product cannot be treated as an immediate conversion path.
How to choose
- Want Farmacy’s exact product? Use the Farmacy page and select the intended scent. Do not assume Original, Fragrance-Free and Honey Vanilla have the same list.
- Want a Korean solid balm? Radiance is the closer format-and-job candidate, but check stock first because the official page was sold out when checked.
- Fragrance is the deciding constraint? BOJ displays Fragrance-Free. Farmacy exposes a Fragrance-Free choice, while its standard published list contains aromatic oils and fragrance allergens. Confirm the actual variant and package.
- Comparing waterproof makeup or sensitive eyes? Read the brand’s current directions and claims, patch-test as appropriate, and do not treat this cosmetic comparison as medical advice or a guarantee.
